How to keep warm in winter. Rules for protection against hypothermia. How to warm frozen hands and feet. How not to catch a cold after hypothermia. Rules of behavior in the cold
In winter, you need to be prepared for any surprises, including hypothermia. A few simple tips will help you keep warm, avoid SARS and frostbite.
1. Warm up in a warm roomEven if you do not have the opportunity to go home immediately, do not try to repeat the feat of Zhenya Lukashyn from "The Irony of Fate" by dancing cheerfully in the cold. Go to a store or cafe, order a warm drink and wait until the chill stops beating you. It usually takes 15-20 minutes. It is better to give preference to ginger or lemon tea, but give up coffee: it quickly removes fluid from the body, which is absolutely useless to a frozen person.
2. Do not drink alcoholDoctors categorically do not recommend drinking alcohol in the cold: it expands blood vessels, and the heat goes many times faster. As a result, a person gets hypothermic, but when he is in a state of intoxication, he no longer feels it. You can warm yourself with a glass of cognac only at home, after you completely "thaw".
If the skin has turned pale from the frost, do not rush to rub it with snow: this way you will only injure it. Give a light massage and hurry to hide in a warm room. You should also not "grow" to the battery, warm your hands in hot tap water or smear them with greasy cream. Wait 20 minutes: Are the frozen skin areas red? This is a good sign: blood circulation has begun to recover. Now you can apply a nourishing cream to your hands and face.
Frost is not the best time for your favorite rings, bracelets, earrings and watches. They not only take away your body heat, but also prevent normal blood circulation. Cross your arms on your chest, placing your palms under your armpits - this way they will warm up faster.
5. Take your time to take a hot shower
Have you come in from the cold and are in a hurry to warm up under the jets of hot water? It's not the best idea: sudden temperature drops are an unnecessary stress for the body. Change into warm home clothes, wrap yourself in a blanket, take your time to drink a cup of tea, and only then take a bath.
It is not for nothing that acetylsalicylic acid is included by the World Health Organization in the list of essential medicines. In case of hypothermia, this drug will relieve spasm of blood vessels, and the warmth of a life-saving wave will spread over your body.
7. Do not soak your feet in hot waterIn order not to get sick, give your feet a proper bath. Fill the basin with water no warmer than +30 ° C, and gradually increase the temperature to 40 ° C. If you already have a runny nose, add a couple of glasses of infusion of linden flowers to the basin: this will relieve swelling of the mucous membrane, and you will feel much better. The procedure should take no more than 30 minutes.
