Let's make flowers from mastic with our own hands

Volumetric cakes, the so-called 3D cakes decorated with mastic, are gaining more and more popularity. This is quite understandable, such products look very attractive and bright.

To work with mastic, of course, skill is needed and the more experience, the better. It may seem that this is not for everyone, but it is not. I never went to art school and I can't draw, but something is available to me.

I recently became interested in mastic products and I try to dive into this topic as deeply as possible. I want to show how easy it is to make a few flowers to decorate an elegant cake.

Step 1

For work, we need confectionery mastic, if possible, then buy mastic specifically for modeling colors, I use the usual one. It is desirable to have a mat for modeling, a small rolling pin.

Step 2

There are different methods of making flowers. I'll show you the one I like best. For earlier, for a day, make several blanks according to the number of flowers. Roll up blanks in the form of a drop, the size depends on the size of the flower that you want to get. I make drops 3 cm high and leave them to dry for a day.

Step 3

The next day you can make flowers. Roll out the mastic thinly and cut circles.

Step 4

With a stick with a ball we thin and “wave” the edge a little. Some make a teaspoon. I used to do the same until I bought the inventory.

Step 5

You can also use this tip.

Step 6

We wrap the first petal around the thin edge of the drop. Moisten the leaf with a brush with water, just a little bit. Water will glue the mastic.

Step 7

We impose a second sheet, but do not glue the edge of the petal closest to us, leave it open. Insert the next petal into the open edge. The part that we insert is moistened with a brush and glued to the bud, and the other edge is left open. So we attach a few more petals.

Step 8

The next petals are made with a large diameter. We “wave” the edge and press the middle of the petal with our thumb so that it takes on a curved shape and put it to dry a little. A tablespoon is fine to keep the shape of the petal while it dries. Then we also put these petals on the bud, as described above.

Step 9

Let the flower dry. You can use the form of quail eggs.

Step 10

The size of the flower depends only on your desire. After a day, the flower will dry up and you can decorate the cake with it.

Step 1

I need lilies of this color. To color the mastic, add a little dye to the white mastic and mix.

Step 2

We roll out thin flagella to the very tip with a prick with a cone and get stamens for flowers. Let's leave it to dry for a day.

Step 3

We roll out the mastic and cut the petals of the size you need with a knife. We put a stick in the middle to get a light impression, like on a flower.

Step 4

We thin the edge in the same way as on rose petals and put the petals to dry on a standard can of drinks for about a day. Until the petals dry out and keep their shape perfectly.

Step 5

Dried petals can be painted with a thin brush. A drop of dye, dilute with two drops of vodka and draw a line in the middle.

Step 6

Apply dots to the leaf and leave to dry.

Step 7

Melt white chocolate in the microwave.

Step 8

Take a small cup. Line with foil and pour some chocolate into the center.

Step 9

Insert three leaves into the chocolate.

Step 10

And insert three more leaves in the middle. Insert stamens. Leave the flowers in the cold until the chocolate hardens. Pistils and stamens can also be made from thin pasta.
