Celery is one of the healthiest plants we eat. Like many other plants, celery was first used in medicine, and only then in cooking. Now celery can be bought all year round, which is good news. Indeed, celery contains many vitamins, mineral salts, protein and essential oils.
Celery improves immunity, restores metabolism. It is recommended to use it for neurosis, sleep disturbance, asthenia. In cooking, celery is used for salads, first and second courses, stewed, boiled, fried, baked and eaten raw.
And if peeling petiole celery is quite simple, then with the root it is a little more difficult, because its peel is not suitable for food. And the knotty roots only complicate the whole process of cleaning root celery. There are two ways to peel celery: difficult but economical and simple but uneconomical. Do not forget just one thing - both methods involve a thorough preliminary washing of the celery tuber.
Recipes with celery root
Step 1
For work, we need a celery root, a knife, a paring knife, a colander.
Step 2
Wash the celery thoroughly.
Step 3
Cut off the "butt" with a knife - the place of attachment of the stems.
Step 4
Carefully cut off the skin with a paring knife.
Step 5
When you reach the bottom of the tuber, where the knotted roots are located, use a small sharp knife and scrape out everything dark from the recesses between the roots.
Step 6
Celery is ready to go.
Step 7
For an uneconomical but quick method, simply cut a clean celery root into two parts. Wrap the cut side to the board so that the root does not crawl on the board. Take a sharp knife and “broad strokes” just cut off all the excess. It will turn out uneconomical, but very quickly.
