The holidays around Christmas and New Year are filled with a lot of emotions, mood, awaited and greeted with real enthusiasm. Apart from the rest and the pleasant surprises from the closest ones, they are also connected with the delicacies allowed during this period. All diets stop here, almost nothing is left untried. Individual succumbing to temptation will not cause great damage to our figure, but in most cases after the first day comes the second, followed by another and so we come to the New Year. Let's not forget the stagnation all this time. After all, it seems that these features suppress the good mood instead of maintaining it.
In order not to feel guilty, not to get depressed and to sink into gloomy thoughts with the end of the holiday season, it is best to take measures before the next occasion. It is well known that starting a diet requires a certain attitude, mental preparation and, above all, a fixed date. It's hard for restrictions to start right now, but the sooner we make a decision, the better. In addition, the diet does not mean starvation, but a readjustment to a more rational regime.
Each manual has several golden rules in the fight against excess weight. Given their basic significance, we cannot fail to mention them here as well. If they have not worked for you so far, it is due to the lack of sufficient adherence to them. Of course, everyone has individual characteristics, but there is always a way out of the situation.
Each diet includes foods with a lower glycemic index. They should create volume, saturate well, but not lead to an unnecessary rise in blood sugar, which, in the absence of utilization in one way or another, is converted into fat under the action of insulin. Again, for the same reason, it is desirable that the daily intake be evenly distributed throughout the day, not to allow starvation and reckless eating in the late hours, when there is a break. Nutritionists advise to choose foods with a higher protein content, because they maintain satiety longer, and the proteins themselves are used more appropriately by the body. However, this does not mean consuming only and mainly protein products. Salads, fruits, wholemeal bread, even soy products are just as good for the body and in addition to the required volume, with a low glycemic index, which they create, they themselves speed up the metabolism. If these products are unavailable due to lack of time, finances, remoteness, etc., then the portion, whatever it contains, can always be reduced.
Consumption of enough fluids also contributes to metabolism. Few of us assume how important a place water is in maintaining a good figure. A well-hydrated body provides optimal performance, stimulates self-esteem, improves general condition, suppresses hunger. We have repeatedly mentioned that soft drinks are a source of empty calories and do not quench thirst, do not supply the right amount of water to our body. Poorly hydrated body leads to a feeling of fatigue, which is usually confused with the need for food. And when it comes to drinks - let's not forget that alcohol is also a source of calories and leads to dehydration with unwise use.
The other change needed to maintain tone between the holidays is movement. Physical activity should not be perceived as an unnecessary stress, it rather unloads. Improves the functional activity of each system in our body, utilizes some of the calories consumed, takes our attention away from treats, stimulates efficiency. It is not necessary to spend an hour or two in a gym or swimming pool. A walk in the nearby park or garden is enough, even more intensive cleaning at home.
