Young children and teenagers are more prone to allergies, say experts from the United States. Their findings are based on the observation of more than 4,100 children between the ages of 2 and 19 who participated in a public health and nutrition survey. It has been found that the incidence of all allergies in obese people is 26% higher. It is 59% higher when it comes to food hypersensitivity, announced the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.

As clear as the results are, allergists do not dare to claim that obesity is in itself a cause of allergies. Other, more in-depth studies are needed to clarify such a relationship. Given the high incidence in both directions in recent decades, there is clearly one. Understanding its genesis would also help prevent them, experts say. Prevention of hypersensitivity would be another solid motivation to fight obesity.
