Proper skin care in today's world is very important. The state of the environment has changed, the quality of food products has changed, the effect on the skin of various substances has increased, including ultraviolet radiation (UVR). All these are the causes of premature aging of the skin.

Proper care helps protect facial skin from early aging, clogged pores and dryness. What should be the care? Now we will understand. Let's start simple.

What types of skin exist

Each person should know their skin type and be able to determine it.

There are three types of skin:

  • normal,
  • oily,
  • dry.

The normal type is considered ideal. It rarely occurs. This skin has:

  • no visible enlarged pores;
  • no black dots;
  • smooth;
  • no peeling, feeling of constriction.

Oily skin type is the most common. Another name is seborrhea.

Features of this skin:

  • dense, with areas of hyperkeratosis - thickening of the stratum corneum of the epidermis;
  • enlarged pores visible to the naked eye;
  • greasy shine within an hour after washing or using special wipes;
  • black dots, tubercles;
  • inflammatory elements.

Dry skin is characterized by reduced function of the sebaceous and sweat glands. Its main features:

  • rough;
  • constant feeling of tightness, dryness;
  • peeling;
  • no visible enlarged pores, black dots;
  • early manifestation of the first signs of aging.

In many sources, there is also a fourth type of skin - combined. It can include a combination of two types: oily and dry, or oily and normal. Usually with this type, the T-zone area (forehead, nose and chin) has all the signs of an oily type, and the cheek area is dry or normal.

What is meant by skin condition?

The condition of the skin is its change due to the influence of external and internal environmental factors (nutrition, lifestyle, environmental conditions, etc.). We can regulate the condition of the skin with the help of nutrition tools, dietary supplements, proper lifestyle and special care.

The following states are distinguished:

  1. Dehydration. The cause is both a violation of the lipid barrier and moisture retention mechanisms, and insufficient fluid intake during the day. Such skin gives a feeling of tightness after washing, peeling and has signs of premature aging. This condition is often confused with signs of dry skin.
  2. Sensitivity. This is skin with reduced tolerance to external stimuli and with increased reactivity. It is manifested by redness, burning, itching on any impact - the application of cosmetic preparations, washing, friction, solar radiation.
  3. Problematic. The cause of this condition is the increased activity of the sebaceous glands, resulting in blockage of pores, the formation of inflammatory elements. This condition leads to aesthetic discomfort for the woman. The reason for the increased production of sebum may be hidden in an unbalanced diet and disruption of the digestive tract. In the first case, this may be a consequence of fractional nutrition and an excess of simple carbohydrates. And in the second - stagnation of bile, pancreatic dysfunction and imbalance of sex hormones.
  4. Hyperpigmentation. It is manifested by an increased appearance of age spots due to disruption of the melanocyte cells. This condition can be a symptom of liver dysfunction.
  5. Withering. The reason is a broken lipid barrier, lack of protein and moisture in the skin. It is characterized by a decrease in firmness and elasticity of the skin. Sources of collagen should be in the diet every day! These include bone broth, fish, seafood, red and white meat, and eggs. Do not forget about the factors that damage collagen molecules. These are sugar, fried foods.

These conditions can occur in any type of skin and directly depend on our lifestyle and living conditions, as well as the correctness and usefulness of care.

What are the rules for skin care

  1. Carry out the main stages of care in the morning and evening, every day. We will talk about this below.
  2. Care should be tailored to the type and condition of your skin.
  3. All cosmetics must be applied along the massage lines, from the center to the periphery.
  4. Strictly follow the order of the steps, the sequence will be below.
  5. Wash off with cool water.
  6. Wipe your face with dry disposable wipes, blotting movements.

Basic skin care steps

What does facial skin care consist of? How to properly and in what sequence to care for the skin?

Daily facial skin care includes four stages:

1st stage. Cleansing.

2nd stage. Toning.

3rd stage. Intensive care.

4th stage. Protection.

cleansing

The magic of the morning at home begins with cleansing. This is the most important step in skincare. How well you cleanse your skin will determine the effectiveness of the rest of the care steps.

Why is skin so important to cleanse? The skin is an excretory organ. Metabolic processes take place in it, including the release of metabolic products, sebum, and various environmental factors act on the skin during the day. It is necessary to cleanse the skin of all waste products and impurities so that it can fully perform its functions and recover.

The cleansing phase consists of two steps:

  • make-up remover,
  • washing.

Make-up removal is the removal of cosmetics, make-up, sebaceous secretions, impurities from the surface of the skin.

For this, special tools are used:

  • cosmetic milk,
  • cosmetic cream,
  • gels,
  • micellar water,
  • oil.

Apply the product on a cotton pad and clean the skin along the massage lines until the make-up is completely removed.

Washing is a way to completely get rid of the remnants of makeup. Washing requires water and detergent.

The form of detergent can be any:

  • liquid soap,
  • gel,
  • foam,
  • mousse.

Dilute the cleanser with water in the palms of your hands, apply on the face and massage for 1-3 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly with clean running water. This completes the cleansing process.

Toning

This stage of care is necessary to restore the pH of the skin after cleansing preparations.

It is carried out with lotions, tonics, hydrolats or thermal water.

Important advice! The basis of the tonic should not be alcohol. It dries out the skin and increases sebum production. The basis should be water, gel-forming or natural ingredients.

How to use? Apply to a cotton pad and wipe all over your face. Let the skin dry. Proceed to the next step.

intensive care phase

This stage is very important in care and is considered the most active. It is able to solve a large number of problems with the skin of the face and helps to restore it under the following conditions:

  • dehydration,
  • dryness,
  • fat content
  • acne,
  • pigmentation.

It includes moisturizing and nourishing the skin.

To moisturize the skin, you need to use creams, which include such useful substances:

  • lipids (PUFAs - polyunsaturated fatty acids, ceramides, ether, lanolin);
  • substances that absorb moisture from the air (glycerin, sorbitol, lactic acid, polypropylene glycol).

Moisturize your skin mainly in the morning. After the tonic has dried, you need to take a small amount of cream and apply on the face along familiar lines until completely absorbed.

Nutrition is necessary for the skin in order to supply it with the necessary vitamins, peptides, enzymes and other beneficial substances.

The composition of such creams should include penetrating substances, that is, "carriers" of useful substances:

  • enhancers,
  • liposomes,
  • perfluoranes,
  • X-50 cosmetic drone.

Nourishing cream is best applied in the evening, 1.5-2 hours before bedtime. Why? We share a secret: at night, the recovery processes in the skin proceed faster, and all substances applied to the skin are better absorbed by it.

Separately, it should be said about the care of the skin around the eyes. In this area, the skin is very thin and delicate, so the cream that you apply to your face will not work. It is necessary to use a special cream for the eye area. It is lighter in texture.

How to use: apply the cream in the morning and evening, in circular motions on the upper and lower eyelids, without stretching the skin. Special and proper care of the skin around the eyes allows you to prevent the appearance of early wrinkles, dark circles and swelling under the eyes. The composition of such creams usually includes hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, vitamin C and others.

Not everyone knows these secrets. Regular care of the eye area will give you a fresh and healthy look.

Protection

It is necessary to protect the skin mainly from such an external factor as UV radiation. Why? There is more and more evidence that the sun is the culprit of early wrinkles. UVR penetrates the dermis, "sews" collagen threads together, thereby reducing skin turgor - the result is premature aging. This process in the body is called glycation. The same thing happens with the use of sweets, fried, carbonated drinks. UV protection is essential at any age. And watch the quality of the diet too!

To protect the skin, creams are used, which include filters called SPF.

Directions for use: apply protection to the skin of the face 15 minutes before going outside. If you are in conditions of active sun, you need to renew the drug every 1.5-2 hours. It is better to wash off the agent applied before. In winter, you should use products with an SPF of at least 30, in summer - 30-70. SPF factor can be applied as a stand-alone product over the cream or as part of a day cream.

It is important to pay attention to the composition of products with SPF protection - a cream or paste based on zinc oxide is considered the safest.

Extra care

  1. Deep cleansing.
  2. Masks.
  3. Serums.
Deep cleansing

This is an additional step in home skin care, but this does not mean that it is of little importance.

Deep cleansing is carried out to exfoliate superficial dead cells. Deep cleansing at home can partially replace the services of a beautician.

To achieve this effect, help:

  • scrubs, gommages, film masks;
  • enzyme peels;
  • acid peels.

The deep cleansing step is applied after the washing step. Can be used 1 to 3 times a week, but not every day. In the morning care, it is better not to include this stage in order to avoid the aggressive effects of UV radiation.

Scrubs are applied to the entire surface of the skin, a light massage is carried out for 2-3 minutes and thoroughly washed off with water. With the help of an abrasive, which serves as the basis of the scrub, skin cells are exfoliated. Scrubs are not for everyone. Do not use them on skin with rashes and severe peeling!

Gommage is applied to the entire face, allowed to dry, and the preparation is rolled from the center to the periphery. In the process of rolling, dead skin cells are captured and exfoliated.

Film masks are effective only for the nose area - to get rid of blackheads.

Enzymatic peels. The active substance of this cosmetic form is plant proteolytic enzymes. It is necessary to apply peeling on the face for 10-15 minutes, be sure to cover it with a warm, damp cloth on top (to activate the enzymes). After that, rinse with water.

Acid peels. For home care, we use only superficial peels. The content of acids in such peeling should be up to 12–15%, and the pH should not be less than 3.5. Most often they are sold in the form of a transparent gel.

This is the only peel that is used strictly once a week. Apply peeling to the face correctly - with a brush or gloved hands, an even middle layer, keep the recommended time and rinse thoroughly with cool water. You may experience a slight burning or tingling sensation upon application, this is normal. After removing the peeling, there may be slight hyperemia (reddening of the skin) and, after a few days, slight peeling. It takes very little time to restore the skin after a superficial peel.

Masks. What are they needed for

Masks are additional cosmetic products in care. They contain a large amount of active ingredients and therefore are used 2-3 times a week to moisturize the skin as quickly as possible. Any mask is applied after the toning stage for 15-20 minutes, then washed off with water. Morning or evening, it doesn't matter.

Important tips for using masks:

  • if the skin is dry or dehydrated, needs to be moisturized, use a moisturizing mask to get rid of the symptoms of dryness;
  • if your skin is oily, use a pore-shrinking mask to reduce the number of pores and reduce the amount of sebum produced. This mask consists mainly of clay or kaolin.

If the skin is problematic, it is better to use therapeutic anti-inflammatory masks to reduce inflammation and lighten post-acne spots. The composition of such a mask may include ichthyol, sulfur, cypress and other anti-inflammatory substances.

If the skin is aging, collagen lifting masks can be used to make the skin firmer and more toned.

Serums

Serums are a light, fast-absorbing emulsion. The serum contains several times more active ingredients than the cream, therefore, it will work faster on the skin. Serums are most often aimed at working with a specific problem: pigmentation, acne, skin dullness, dryness, etc. Therefore, they are not used constantly, but in courses of 1-2 months.

Serum is applied in 2-3 drops to the entire face, either as an independent stage of care, or under a cream.

If your daily ritual consists of basic and additional care, you can safely say that your care is complete and correct. In order for the skin to get the maximum benefit from the drugs, it is important not to violate the procedure for applying the funds and follow all the recommendations.

Features of care for different types and conditions of the skin

Each type and condition of the skin has its own specific care.

Oily skin care:

  1. In washing, milder cosmetic forms of the product should be used, which contain anionic or amphoteric surfactants, such as cosmetic liquid soap, foaming gel, solid cosmetic soap.
  2. It is recommended to include a deep cleansing step 2-3 times a week.
  3. Toning - WITHOUT alcohol in the composition of the product!
  4. Masks should be used mainly with a pore-tightening effect 1-2 times a week.
  5. It is better not to use nutritional supplements. They have a very thick texture.
  6. Day cream can be selected with antibacterial action.

Remember that external care is only an auxiliary tool. The reason for too oily skin is hidden inside. It is necessary to analyze the food diary, evaluate the basic indicators of analyzes and lifestyle. Do you want to know how what you eat affects the condition of your skin?
