Prunes are one of the healthiest fruits because they contain countless nutrients that benefit the health of certain organs in the body.
Prunes contain much more fiber than other fruits. In addition to fiber, they are rich in carbohydrates, protein, folate, niacin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, rifoflavin, thiamine, vitamin A, C, E, K, potassium, calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, selenium, zinc, cryptoxanthin, lutein and zeaxanthin . Due to the richness of nutrients and antioxidants, prunes are considered extremely healthy.
They include a number of benefits for the body and some of them are presented in the following lines…
First of all, prunes are extremely good for eye health. They contain vitamin A, which prevents macular degeneration, dry eyes and night blindness. Plums provide up to 3% of the daily recommended value for vitamin A. They also contain carotene , which helps improve overall eye health.
Prunes are also rich in antioxidants that prevent cancer. Selenium, thiamine , riboflavin, niacin and other phytonutrients are extremely effective in preventing tumor cells. Prunes are also a rich source of plant phenols, which protect the body from oxidative stress.
This type of dried fruit is also excellent for maintaining heart health. Plums are rich in fiber and potassium, which makes them an ideal snack for people suffering from heart problems. While fiber removes excess fat from blood vessels, potassium is responsible for the proper functioning of the nervous system. Fruits also have a beneficial effect on the production of red blood cells in the body. Prunes are an excellent source of iron, folate, zinc and copper, which are also important in preventing anemia .
Next, prunes help digestion. Because they are rich in fiber and minerals, they provide bowel movement and reduce the symptoms of constipation. In addition to fiber, the antioxidants in them make them an ideal snack to relieve cramps such as reducing premenstrual syndrome .
Dried fruits are especially good for bones, as they contain a combination of minerals that are needed to restore them and maintain bone density in old age.
