Red Wine Useful In The Treatment Of Cancer ?!

The beneficial effect is due to its ingredient, already well known for its health benefits.

Consumption of red wine can help with prostate cancer.

Due to the content of resveratrol in the drink, the effect of chemotherapy is increased , cancer cells become more susceptible to treatment.

Resveratrol is a natural chemical compound, polyphenol. It is found in the skins of grapes, red wine and other foods and beverages. It is useful for various health problems, and acts against cell aging.

The results of the study confirm a recent study found that one glass of wine a day reduces the risk of death in women with breast cancer .

Researchers say the results are somewhat unexpected, as alcohol use is considered one of the leading causes of breast cancer.

One of the scientists' explanations is that the compounds in alcohol that damage healthy cells have the same effect on cancer cells.

After taking resveratrol supplements in combination with radiation therapy , 97% of cancer cells die, which is a much higher percentage than just radiation therapy, according to the research team.

The researchers added that this combination destroys prostate cancer cells , including the more aggressive ones.

The body processes resveratrol quickly. Large amounts of the ingredient are needed to get the positive effect against cancer cells .

Further studies are needed to find the exact effective dose of resveratrol, the research team said.

Preliminary data from the study are published in the Journal of Andrology and Cancer Science .
