Algae are a natural protection for the heart and help prevent heart attacks, according to a new review of 100 studies on the subject, published in the American Chemical Society's Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry .

Scientists have found key ingredients in plants that are helpful in lowering blood pressure.

Seaweed is a rich source of protein , known as bioactive peptides , which are also found in milk.

These chemicals have a similar effect to ACE inhibitors , drugs often prescribed to lower blood pressure and prevent heart attacks and strokes.

More than 30,000 species of algae are known. A popular variety is Wakame - an ingredient in Japanese miso soup, salads and vegetable dishes. Other famous species are Kombu and Nori. They are dried and used for wrapping sushi, which is already prepared even in our restaurants.

One kilogram of algae contains minerals, trace elements, amino acids and phytohormones as much as 100 thousand liters of sea water.

The many different enzymes in them are extremely important for good digestion, and more. Algae purify the body of toxins. They are extremely rich in beta-carotene, vitamins C and E, manganese, zinc, magnesium, calcium, copper, iron, selenium, chromium, etc., which build antioxidant enzymes in our body, and they reduce free radicals.

According to research, algae activate the nervous system and help to overcome depression, sadness and lack of concentration .

There is evidence that women who consume marine plants have a healthy bone system and are less likely to suffer from osteoporosis than those who do not.

Research shows that the extract of the so-called " edible alaria " has anti-aging properties and restores the skin, thanks to its content of sirtuini - a type of protein.

Omega-3 and 6 acids, which are also part of red algae, help restore water balance and prevent the breakdown of collagen and elastin.
