Grapefruit is a citrus that can help lose weight, strengthen the immune system, give tone, charge you with good mood and optimism. The uniqueness of the fruit as a means of weight loss is due to the flavonoid naringin, which causes the liver to actively burn fat.

To give the expected results, the next diet based on citrus consumption requires a change in eating culture. Namely: reduction of calorie intake (up to 800 kcal per day), complete abstinence from sugar, salt, hot sauces and spices (exception is red pepper). Green tea is drunk every day.

The diet is one week and allows you to lose between 3 and 7 pounds, and exactly how much you will lose weight depends on the body, activity and lifestyle that you lead in general.

Day one

  • Breakfast: 1 grapefruit or freshly squeezed citrus juice, 50 grams of low-fat ham, green tea;
  • Lunch: 1/2 grapefruit, vegetable salad flavored with lemon juice (vegetables you use should not contain large amounts of starch), green tea;
  • Dinner: 1/2 grapefruit, 150 grams of cooked lean meat, 200 grams of lettuce flavored with lemon juice, green tea.

Every next day, eat half a grapefruit at each meal plus the other foods listed below.

Day two

  • In the morning: 2 eggs (boiled), green tea;
  • Lunch: 50 grams of skim cheese / yellow cheese;
  • Evening: 200 grams of fish stewed in water, 200 grams of green vegetable salad, flavored with a dressing of lemon juice and olive oil, a slice of black bread;

Day three

  • In the morning: 2 tablespoons oatmeal (prepared with water) with 2-3 nuts (except peanuts) and 4 tablespoons skim yogurt.
  • Lunch: a glass of vegetable soup or clear broth with 2 rusks;
  • Evening: 200 grams of boiled chicken, 2 roasted tomatoes, green tea.

Day four

  • In the morning: a boiled egg, a glass of tomato juice, tea with lemon;
  • Lunch: 200 grams of salad of carrots and vegetables with green color (cucumbers, lettuce, broccoli, sweet peppers, celery), seasoned with a dressing of olive oil and lemon juice, black bread (a small slice);
  • Evening: 300 grams of stewed vegetables (except potatoes and corn), green tea.

Day five

  • In the morning: 250 grams of fruit salad (grapefruit, orange and apple), a cup of green tea;
  • Lunch: 1/2 grapefruit, some baked large potatoes, 200 grams of coleslaw;
  • Evening: 1/2 grapefruit, 200 grams of beef steak, roasted tomatoes or tomato juice.

The menu for the sixth and seventh day can be like any of the previous days, choose the one you liked the most.

In order not to feel very hungry during the diet, between the main meals you are allowed to eat an apple or drink a glass of skim kefir. Once a day you can pamper yourself by sweetening green tea with a teaspoon of honey.


Contraindications to the diet

The diet is not suitable for people suffering from gastritis and gastric ulcer.

Postmenopausal women need to consult a mammologist before going on a diet, as regular consumption of grapefruit during this period can lead to the development of breast cancer.
