Sugar Damages The Heart In The Long Run

Women who consume two or more high-sugar drinks are 4 times more likely to have a heart problem.

Consumption of large amounts of sugar can damage the heart in the long run.

Researchers are monitoring the effect of sugar on the heart using biochemical analysis and found that regular consumption of sugar or similar in large quantities can cause permanent and irreversible damage to general health and especially to the heart.

The presence of sucrose , a type of sugar, in sweetened beverages has been shown to be a risk factor for the development of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Women who consume two or more high-sugar drinks are 4 times more likely to have such a problem.

Also, sugar consumption increases the risk of heart failure, deterioration of heart function, arrhythmia and fibrosis.

The results of the study are published in the journal PLoS Genetics .

However, in the search for low-calorie sweeteners that replace sugar, we can also come across not so healthy products. Knowledge of quality substitutes is extremely useful, experts say.

One of the harmless sugar substitutes is stevia and xylitol.
