The Giants Of The Global Food Market Are The Most Powerful Manufacturing Companies

You walk into a supermarket and see many logos, bright labels, loud inscriptions and mouth-watering advertising pictures. And you wouldn't even guess that, say, Lipton, Besida and Calve sauce teas are products of the same manufacturing company (Unilever). How to understand the origin of the products sold in the store, and also have an idea of the scale of the companies that manufacture them

Some go to the grocery store monthly, some weekly, and some daily. You walk into a supermarket and see many logos, bright labels, loud inscriptions and mouth-watering advertising pictures. And you wouldn't even guess that, say, Lipton, Besida and Calve sauce teas are products of the same manufacturing company (Unilever).

In order to understand the origin of the products sold in the store, as well as to have an idea of the scale of the companies that manufacture them, brief information about some of the world's largest food corporations represented on the Ukrainian market is collected below.

Nestle SA

Nestle is the largest food corporation in the world. By all indicators, it exceeds its main competitor — Unilever by one and a half times. The company produces a huge range of products: instant coffee, mineral water, chocolate, ice cream, broths, dairy products, baby food, pet food, pharmaceutical products and cosmetics.

The company's history begins in the mid-60s of the 19th century. The noble goal of a Swiss pharmacist was to find an alternative to breast milk for babies who, for various reasons, did not receive enough nutrition. "Henry Nestle's Milk Powder" was finally invented experimentally, which saved the lives of a large number of children around the world.

Mars Incorporated

Mars, in addition to the bar of the same name, also produces M&Ms, Milky Way, Snickers and Twix sweets. Also, this company owns Whiskas and Pedigree, well-known in Ukraine.

Mars is the only food giant that is still privately owned. Parts of the company are divided between three of Frank Mars' grandchildren, although none of the descendants are involved in its management. And it all started with Milky Way bars, sold from the window of Frank's home kitchen.

Groupe Danone SA

The French dairy company Groupe Danone is the world's largest seller of dairy products, baby food, and bottled water. Danone is famous for its active position in the introduction of "green" production technologies, and makes a lot of efforts to reduce the harmful impact of production on the environment.

Mondelez International Inc.

In 2012, Kraft Foods split into two independent companies - Kraft Foods Group and Mondelez. In the first, American food brands remained, and in the second - well-known global brands of snacks, chocolate, sweets and coffee: Oreo, TUC, Barni, Trident, Halls, Cadbury, Milka, Lacta, Toblerone, Alpen Gold, Jacobs, Carte Noire and many others

Unilever Group

Unilever is not entirely a product company, because a large segment of its products are personal care products and household chemicals. Nevertheless, food and beverages bring a third of all the company's profits : teas Lipton, Brooke Bond, "Conversation"; products Calve, Rama, Creme Bonjour, etc.

The Coca-Cola Company

Although this company does not fit into the context of healthy food, Coca-Cola is one of the most expensive global brands . It is interesting that the drink of the same name, with which the history of the company began , was developed by a pharmacist as a tonic medicine. Gradually, it gained such popularity among consumers that in 6 years it became the most famous drink in the USA.

The company's history is full of lawsuits and various media sensations, including those related to the composition of the drink. But whatever it is... it is unequivocally clear that sugary carbonated drinks are harmful to health.

PepsiCo Inc.

Another well-known powerful giant of the world market. In addition to the sweet water brand , owns shares  of the Sandora company and some food trademarks (for example, TM "Agusha").

PepsiCo is one of the most powerful advertisers and ranks among the most expensive brands in the world, although it is surpassed by Nestle in terms of revenue.

These are the giants of the global food market. Each of these companies deserves a lot of credit for their success, but as stated earlier, not all of them care about the health of their consumers. So let's choose the best for ourselves, regardless of the tempting advertising (although it was difficult :)).
