If you have a sleep disorder, frequent colds and allergies - think about it! Have you accumulated heavy metals in your body? For example, mercury.

Even if you live in an ecologically clean area, this will not protect you from poisoning. After all, mercury can enter our body with food.

Each of us has heard about the dangers of mercury for our body. You can be exposed to it in various areas of life. The natural element mercury is found in water, air, soil, and even food. It is very dangerous and even toxic. Especially for young children and pregnant women, in particular for the developing fetus.

Humans are primarily exposed to mercury through food, such as fish and shellfish. It has a negative effect on the nervous, immune, digestive systems.

Mercury poisoning is not uncommon. Mercury cannot be destroyed. With the use of it through food, mercury accumulates in the body to the limit point and, sooner or later, poisoning will make itself felt.

In fish and seafood

Scientists have identified the most dangerous types of fish that contain mercury. These include fish predators - shark, king mackerel, swordfish. These types of fish should not be eaten at all. A couple of times a month, you can eat a small piece (no more than 200 grams) of sea trout, sea bass or American lobster. They contain much less mercury.

Fish such as cod, carp, herring, rays and perch also contain mercury, but in very small amounts. Eating them several times a week will not harm the body.

The least mercury was found in shrimp, salmon, sardines and squid.

The content of mercury in industrial products is quite high. Mercury entering water bodies and soil begins to poison everything around. If fruits, vegetables, cereals are grown on contaminated land, then mercury entering the body will accumulate. It mainly occurs in the kidneys, stomach, and large intestine.

The first signs of mercury poisoning are nausea, migraine, insomnia, dizziness. During the transition to a more severe stage, the mobility of the joints decreases, and speech is impaired.

Despite all the harm of mercury, it is impossible to completely exclude fish from your diet. Fish also contains fatty and omega-3 acids that help reduce mercury exposure.

Very little mercury is found in foods such as chocolate, nuts, cocoa beans, flour, and canned food. But it is so insignificant that it will not do any harm.

In corn syrup

Few people know about another source of mercury. This is high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). Recently, it has been praised as an achievement of the food industry.

Increasingly, beverage manufacturers are replacing sucrose or regular sugar with this particular sweetener. Over time, frequent consumption of these drinks leads to health problems.

The level of mercury in corn syrup is quite high, but drinking drinks that contain HFCS, we do not even know about it.

To get rid of this problem, read food labels carefully and do not use those that contain high fructose corn syrup, HFCS for short. Fresh fruits and vegetables are a natural source of sugar.

As they say, your health is in your hands. And only you can decide what to eat and what not. But maintaining health is one of the important factors for a long, happy and active life. Watch your diet and be healthy!
