In the human body, everything is arranged for the sake of the longest possible conservation of energy.
In the human body, everything is arranged for the sake of the longest possible conservation of energy. Which, of course, is contrary to the desire of many people to lose a few extra pounds in the shortest possible time. But there is good news: it is the knowledge of the laws of metabolism that will help you monitor your weight without tormenting yourself with strict diets. After all, sometimes it’s enough just not to harm natural processes, but to correctly stimulate those that help you achieve your goals.
Today we will tell you what habits you should part with forever in order to restore the correct functioning of the metabolism.
The most common habit that slows down metabolism is skipping breakfast. Most people believe that by skipping breakfast they will lose weight faster, because if you skip one meal, it means that you have reduced the number of calories consumed per day. Attention! Such a "clumsy" approach does not work. The chemical processes in our body are much more complicated than it might seem at first glance. During sleep, metabolic processes slow down, but after waking up, the metabolic rate is restored, and if you also literally feed the metabolic processes, then it increases for the whole day. However, in the opposite situation (in case of refusing breakfast), the stress hormone is released and the brain considers that a period of starvation is possible, and all incoming calories, if possible, are stored in reserve. Simply put, most of what what gets into your stomach after missing breakfast, instead of being converted into energy, will be deposited in the form of body fat. Do you need it?
It's a touted cocktail of sugar, empty carbs, and oil. The benefits of such a breakfast tend to zero, the abundance of sugar in the morning hits the pancreas, and the lack of protein and fiber negatively affects the metabolism, slowing them down for the whole day. You will feel more lethargic and sleepy.
Many people live in a mode of constant sleep deprivation, which is a stressful situation for the body. Due to the lack of sleep, an excess amount of cortisol is produced, which is responsible for maintaining energy in “difficult” times for the body. And everything would be fine if we live in a post-apocalypse. But in the conditions of urban "sedentary" life, the body's thrift only leads to an increase in fat deposits and blood sugar. And that means hello, diabetes, high cholesterol, and heart disease. Again, food for thought.
This habit slows down metabolism by as much as 70%! The explanation for this is elementary: the liver is engaged in the removal of ethyl alcohols from the body, but it must also secrete hormones and substances for the breakdown of fats, however, if the liver is “busy” with alcohol, there is no longer enough time for “routine” functions. If you want to speed up your metabolism, give up alcohol for a while.
After reading about the dangers of a sedentary lifestyle, people rushed to the gym and once or twice a week exhaust themselves with two to three hours of training. But the problem is that the other 5-6 days a week they sit. At work, at home in front of computers and TVs, in the park on benches with smartphones. And sitting for the brain is rest. At moments of rest, it automatically slows down the metabolism. Therefore, breaks every few hours are recommended: walks, homework, light but regular exercise, and not necessarily early in the morning.
The human body needs fats, both animal fats, albeit in small doses, and vegetable fats, which are found in oils and nuts. It is fats that contribute to the breakdown of already accumulated deposits and the removal of cholesterol.
We hope that we managed to convince you of the inexpediency of the 6 given habits, which not only slow down the process of losing weight, but also, in principle, interfere with the full functioning of our body. Remember: in order to start changing your life for the better, it is not necessary to wait until Monday.
