A Glass Of Grapefruit Juice Daily - For A Healthy Heart

The amount of about 340 ml of citrus juice is enough to improve blood circulation.

Consumption of just one glass of grapefruit juice a day can provide protection against the development of heart disease , according to a study.

The amount of about 340 ml is enough to improve blood circulation . According to experts, the beneficial chemicals known as flavonols, which are naturally found in citrus fruits , are responsible for the invaluable benefits.

Researchers claim that regular consumption of grapefruit juice can play a very important role in limiting the development of heart disease - one of the leading causes of death worldwide.

According to data from the Ministry of Health in Bulgaria, for every 3 fatal cases, 2 are due to cardiovascular disease.

The best protection against them is the consumption of a healthy diet rich in nutrients.

French researchers employ 48 healthy women between the ages of 50 and 65. This age group has the highest risk of developing heart disease .

Each day, half of the participants received 340 ml of grapefruit juice, and the rest were given the same amount of drink, which resembles fruit juice but does not contain  flavonols . After two months, the drinks of the two groups of participants change. The study lasts for a period of six months.

From the analysis of the data it is clear that after regular consumption of the drink containing flavonols , there is a significant improvement in the health of blood vessels . When consuming the alternative drink, there is little or no change in this regard.

Researchers note that regular consumption of grapefruit juice can help healthy middle-aged and menopausal women, as it is useful in arterial rigidity .

The researchers published the findings in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition .
