Cabbage Prevents Cancer ?!

All types of cabbage have health benefits because they contain compounds for the prevention of diseases, including cancer.

Cabbage contains phytonutrients such as thiocyanate, lutein, zeaxanthin and isothiocyanate, which stimulate detoxifying enzymes and protect against breast, colon and prostate cancer. It is also rich in phytochemicals that break down into cancer-preventing substances. Another potential substance that is contained in cabbage and fights cancer is sulforaphane. 


Research over the past 30 years has shown that consumption of cruciferous vegetables, including cabbage, is associated with a lower risk of cancer. One of the main ingredients in cabbage is indole-3-carbinol, a chemical that helps maintain DNA and prevent tumors. A chemical called apigenin, which is thought to reduce the size of cancer cells , is also being considered .


Cabbage is also a rich source of other nutrients such as vitamin A, C and fiber. The folic acid in it slows down the development of cancer of the stomach and colon.

 
Cabbage is rich in polyphenols and glucosinolates, which have compounds to fight disease. They are associated with the prevention of chronic diseases caused by oxidative stress.


White, red, Brussels sprouts or Chinese cabbage - all have health benefits. While red is a good source of antioxidants, Chinese and green have anti-inflammatory properties . It is good to include everyone in the diet to get the most out of them.

 

Red cabbage contains the antioxidant anthocyanin , which slows down the development of cancer cells, kills those already formed and stops the formation of new ones. It has been found that the consumption of Chinese cabbage is associated with a reduced risk of breast cancer.

 

Both for the prevention of cancer cells and for blood clotting , you can drink 1 cup of raw cabbage, which contains more than 60% vitamin K. 


If we can't prevent some of the factors that cause cancer, we can, for example, alleviate them by eating a diet rich in vegetables, including cabbage. Therefore, it is recommended to consume it, because in addition to cancer, cabbage is good for our overall health.
