Citrus Fruits Reduce The Risk Of Stroke

According to scientists, the benefit is due to the content of flavonoids in citrus fruits.

Women who regularly consume citrus fruits have a lower risk of ischemic stroke, according to US researchers.

A 14-year study tracked the eating habits of 69,622 women. The aim of the scientists is to study the health benefits of taking flavonoids, which are contained in fruits, vegetables, dark chocolate, red wine and others.

Regular consumers of oranges and grapefruits have a 19% lower risk of stroke, the results show. According to scientists, the positive effect is due to the content of flavonoids in citrus.

They are believed to provide protection by improving the function of blood vessels, as well as due to their anti-inflammatory action.

Citrus fruits are rich in vitamins, especially vitamin C and antioxidants. The ingredients are useful for maintaining the immune system. Consumption of citrus is also recommended for joint pain. To be in good health, it is recommended to eat a few fruits a day.

Other studies show that citrus fruits help prevent weight gain and the development of metabolic syndrome, which can lead to type 2 diabetes and a higher risk of cardiovascular disease.

The study was published in the Journal of the American Heart Association .
