Pear is a natural source of energy and although it is very nutritious, it is not high in calories. It has been used as a medicine since ancient times because it contains many bioactive substances.
It also contains: vitamins E, P, A, C, B1, B2, PP, folic acid, carotene, pectin, catechins, iron, copper, manganese, potassium, iodine, calcium, molybdenum, cobalt, tannins and cellulose .
The pear has a beneficial effect on dizziness, fatigue and rapid heartbeat associated with high physical activity. Helps increase appetite and faster wound healing. Thanks to the organic acids in its composition, it improves digestion and metabolism, normalizes the work of the liver and kidneys.
Fibers in the fetus help prevent some diseases, including colon cancer. They take care of the good bacteria and thus affect the health of the entire immune system. In addition, fiber creates a feeling of satiety, which is good in the fight against weight. The risk of heart disease is reduced and cholesterol levels are lowered.
Pear has tonic, disinfectant, diuretic, antitussive and antipyretic effects. It should be noted that they are characteristic of both fresh and cooked, dried fruits and products prepared from them. The diuretic effect is due to the presence of complex essential oils, thanks to which the decoction of pears is used in inflammation of the urinary tract.
Pears reduce the risk of heart disease and blood pressure, stimulate metabolism. A study in a group of people with metabolic syndrome, including the consumption of pears every day for 12 weeks, showed a reduction in the participants' blood pressure.
Healing properties are hidden not only in the fruit but also in the leaves of the tree. The young leaves have pronounced anti-inflammatory properties, contain antifungal substance, so their decoction is used in dermatitis and fungal diseases. The powder of dried leaves is applied with increased sweating.
Consumption of pears reduces the risk of developing diabetes. This is shown by the results of a large survey of 200,000 people who consume 5 pears a week.
Pears also slow down digestion, thus giving the body more time to break down carbohydrates, which also controls blood sugar.
Pears are contraindicated in the raw state for people with stomach ulcers. As they irritate the lining of the stomach, it is not recommended to take them on an empty stomach.
Do not eat meat or other heavy foods after eating the fruit, which is best eaten half an hour after eating.
Stomach discomfort and diarrhea may occur after eating pears, accompanied by or followed by drinking water.
