Meet Gergana - the creator of "Soup" - and see what she has to say.

Who is behind Soup? Tell our readers more about yourself?

The author of "Soup" is Gergana, or Gischo, as all recipes are signed. A true amateur in the kitchen, who insists on a delicious meal in good company.

Your blog is familiar to all hosts. How was the idea for it born?

I guess the history of "Soup" is close to the history of all blogs, culinary or not. "Soup" was born as an idea how to combine two favorite activities - cooking and photography. And the blog was a great form of recreation, like any hobby.

Since when do you cook and how has cooking become a passion for you?

I have been cooking since my student years, because on the one hand, this is the period when a person has more free time, and on the other hand, as it is well known, students are always hungry. And over the years, my attitude towards cooking and eating has not changed.

Do you strive to stick to the taste of or do you choose more exotic dishes to present?

I love the Bulgarian national cuisine and its familiar, classic and clean taste. Universally loved and easy to perceive. That's why many of the recipes on the blog are recipes for well-known dishes from mom and grandma's kitchen. At the same time, I am constantly trying new products and new recipes. But of those, only those I liked found a place on the blog. Ie the criterion of whether something will be included in the blog is whether I like it or not, not whether it is classic or exotic.

Assuming nutrition is a mission, what is yours?

Mission is very strongly said, but I will be happy if "Soup" helps everyone to enter the kitchen without worry. Cooking is easy, cooking is affordable, cooking is a fun event. In addition, cooking more at home, we eat better and healthier and have the opportunity to use more useful and seasonal products.

Tell us about your most fun moments in the kitchen? Have you had failures?

It's always fun when you cook with company. The more people, the more fun. However, this does not mean that more people cook better together, on the contrary. And as for failures, there have been many and they will probably continue. I think of a cake, maybe the second or third birthday of the blog. Since the cakes joined the ranks of "Soup" very late, the preparation of each of them was a challenge, simply because I had no experience and somehow scared me. That's why I made cakes only for the blog's birthdays, as something very special. So, the cake was ready, syrupy and ready for photos. However, I decided that it would not look good enough in this cake plate, so I have to move it to another. Of course, the syrup cake fell apart. And so I had to make a new one at the last minute.
