Characteristic

Magnesium lactate is a dietary supplement that belongs to the group of antioxidants. This is the sodium salt of lactic acid. The substance is a white crystalline powder.

Main functions: regulates acidity, replaces salt, emulsifying salt.

Magnesium lactate dissolves well in alcohol and water. It is obtained from lactic acid (which is well absorbed by the body) and the addition of impurities - salts of polylactic acid and carbonates.

Use

Because the supplement dissolves and is easily absorbed, it is an excellent mineral and trace element. E 329 is also used as a substitute for table salt in the processing of fruits and vegetables. Due to its antioxidant properties, it is used together with other antioxidants in frozen products to prolong their shelf life and prevent damage from fat oxidation. Magnesium lactate is added as an acid regulator in margarine, canned fruits and vegetables, marmalades, jellies, jams. In some countries, it is allowed to be used as a flour improver for making bakery and confectionery products, and as a moisturizer, it is used in cosmetics and tobacco.

Impact on humans

There is no set daily allowance, but lactates are not recommended for use in baby and baby foods. There are no possible risks in terms of hygiene standards. People who are lactose intolerant should not consume products containing the supplement.
