Easter Table Without Consequences

So that the bright Easter holiday does not turn into a tragedy for your body, observe moderation in food and alcohol.

So that the bright Easter holiday does not turn into a tragedy for your body, observe moderation in food and alcohol.

A rich Easter table is a tradition that is more than two thousand years old. It was believed that the number of dishes on the table on Easter should correspond to the number of days of the previous fast. How does the body cope with all this abundance? After all, as you know, Great Lent is the longest and in some years it can last up to 48 days. It is also known for its strictness - Orthodox Christians who observe fasting do not consume meat, milk, eggs and other products.

Strict restrictions are quite rewarded on the bright holiday of Easter, because on this day all prohibitions are lifted. However, pouncing on Easter treats, eating everything indiscriminately and in large quantities threatens with trouble: the body may not be able to cope with unexpected happiness. Many people have problems with the stomach, intestines, gastritis, peptic ulcer, etc., on these long-awaited holidays.

Therefore, so that the memories of the holiday remain only pleasant, it is necessary not only to prepare a rich and hearty meal, but also to develop an individual program for breaking the fast, which would be a kind of diet for the body. Those who observed fasting should gradually and carefully transition from fasting to fasting. For those who haven't changed their diet, basically nothing has changed - just don't overeat.

Easter table

Holiday symbols . The main thing in the Easter menu is to observe the symbolism inherent in this holiday. Paska, cheese paska, dyed eggs or Easter eggs must be present on the table. These three obligatory dishes are culinary attributes of the Easter holiday, they are prepared once a year just before this day. Therefore, a mandatory point of preparation for the holiday includes the preparation or purchase of these phenomena.

Meat . It is desirable that there was meat on the Easter table. There are no restrictions here. If you can't afford a traditional lamb, pig or lamb roasted on a spit, prepare several dishes from beef, chicken, turkey. But home-made sausage, bacon and lard are much more affordable dishes. You can prepare them yourself or buy them at the market or in a supermarket.

Salads . If you observed a strict fast, your body will be happy with green salads: tasty and healthy. All available greens at this time of the year are suitable for their preparation: cabbage, sorrel, cherry, green onion. You can make an innovative note and prepare a seafood salad - again, the body will only thank you.

Alcohol . If a holiday is not a holiday for you without alcohol, then try to find a compromise option that is harmless to health, for example, limit yourself to a glass of wine. It is better not to insist on high-grade drinks. Remember that alcohol poisoning is the number one cause of hospitalization during the holidays.

Start with the mind

It is interesting that the word "fasting" means "to try a little". Both churchmen and doctors agree that you should not overeat on the bright holiday of Sunday. Intemperance in food can lead to the saddest consequences. It is not for nothing that doctors believe that the heaviest shifts fall on New Year's and Easter.

Developing an individual nutrition program for the correct exit from fasting is recommended for everyone, and even more so for people with health problems. And such, unfortunately, are the majority. Of course, you have a full moral right to speak up, but you need to do it wisely, without getting into trouble. When developing the program, try to adhere to the following recommendations:

  • You can start with oat jelly or a decoction of flax seeds. These simple dishes have anti-inflammatory and enveloping properties and are especially useful for people who are familiar with gastritis or ulcers.
  • It is better to refrain from fresh pastries. Paska, must be yesterday. By the way, our ancestors started baking pascha on Thursday. These flour products should not be relied on, such a weak symbolic piece on the occasion of the holiday.
  • Traditionally, the Easter table is rich in protein food. Meat, eggs - you can eat them, but a little, for example, 150-200 gr. meat and one egg. If you strictly followed the fast, try to refrain from eating fatty foods, smoked foods and pickles.
  • Many medicines are now on sale that promise to get rid of discomfort in the stomach during a hearty meal. However, do not rush to experiment with your body - now a slight feeling of hunger is better than overeating.
  • If you are not determined to starve on a festive day, then at least stop your choice on safer products, such as fish, vegetables, fruits, cereals.

A holiday of the spirit

Easter is primarily a holiday of the spirit, not of the stomach. And if you treat the bright resurrection in this way, leaving the Great Lent will be simple and joyful. You can, of course, invite guests and prepare 48 dishes for a treat. And from all this Easter abundance, choose the food that will be most useful for you. After all, after a few days you will be able to return to your old way of eating. And suddenly you want to change your habits forever?
