Eating Healthy Is Not Difficult, Nor So Expensive

10% of greenhouse gases are due to agriculture. They destroy biodiversity and pollute water ...

During the forum it was a question of how harmful modern intensive agriculture is ...

One of the goals of Gorichka is to give more information about how harmful this agriculture is. It has only existed for a few decades, but it is inexplicable to our grandparents how intensive monoculture farming exists or the fact that we can buy packaged food from another continent. Unfortunately, this is the way most plants are grown. So many chemicals are used in the soil, and in its top layer. It is very thin and in fact the most fertile, formed millions of years ago, and now people with gas masks work on it. 10% of greenhouse gases are due to this agriculture, which is the cause of the destruction of biodiversity and water pollution.

I recently spoke with an elderly woman from Byala Slatina, who told me that she could no longer hear the birds. I asked her what she meant. She replied that since they planted huge rapeseed plantations, the birds are gone ...

There is talk of GMOs, but very little is said about the fact that the standard way food is produced is very harmful. It is unstable, the soil cannot withstand, the microorganisms that are so important for the soil disappear. And 40% of the European Union's budget goes to subsidizing just such agriculture.

The hall where the forum took place was full of people. What does it mean?

I am glad that there is so much interest in the forum, all the tickets have sold out. This means that people are interested and have a desire for change. And one is definitely needed. We live in a world where, obviously, in order to have a good life and health, we need to change. In fact, change is happening, the question is whether it will happen fast enough.

What would you advise parents to pay attention to in terms of the products with which they prepare food for their children?
No parent has the right to be irresponsible about what their children eat. There is so much easily available information right now. Maybe parents should be more careful about what foods they buy, look at product labels.

One of the speakers at the forum said that in order to feel good, we need 210 g of meat per week. The problem is that the meat is prepared in an extremely industrial way, with a lot of antibiotics and hormones. It is horrible to claim that meat is health, these are myths. Margarine is also terribly harmful. Unfortunately, hydrogenated fats are found in absolutely all baby biscuits.
