More and more children are at risk of food allergies due to a decline in the consumption of healthy foods.
Consumption of oily fish and nuts reduces the risk of developing food allergies in children, according to a new study published in the Journal of Physiology .
Researchers have found that omega-3 fatty acids found in salmon, mackerel and tuna , as well as walnuts, pumpkin seeds and flaxseed , "encourage" the gut to develop in a way that strengthens the immune system.
Experts warn that more and more children are at risk of food allergies, precisely because there is a decline in the consumption of these healthy foods.
The team from the French National Agricultural Research Institute found that when mothers eat foods rich in a certain group of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), their children's intestinal walls are more permeable.
This allows more nutrients and bacteria to enter the bloodstream, triggering the baby's immune system to produce antibodies .
These polyunsaturated fatty acids lead to a change in the way the baby's stomach develops, which is also related to the development of the intestinal immune system , explains Dr. Gaele Budri.
"The end result is that the baby's immune system can develop and mature faster, which leads to better immune system function and a lower risk of allergies," said the expert.
Another study, by Finnish nutritionists, found that children who ate oatmeal and whole grains at an early age had a significantly lower risk of developing bronchial asthma .
Oatmeal is rich in protein, fat, carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins and minerals . They are useful because they regulate metabolism, increase the vitality of the body, successfully strengthen the immune system. They are easily digested by the human body.
They are suitable for all ages due to their high content of dietary fiber - fiber . This makes them an important part of a healthy diet.
