  • Age: It is also becoming another fundamental factor, as an increase in blood pressure is often observed over the years.

  • Overweight and obesity are important factors that directly affect blood pressure. As you gain weight, it also increases.

Foods that have an antihypertensive effect are onions, garlic, plants and herbs such as: olive leaves, white hawthorn, horsetail and others. Garlic and onions are vegetables rich in manganese, vitamins and minerals, important for the body enzymes and antioxidants that promote the immune system, bone metabolism, calcium absorption and proper functioning of the thyroid gland.

 

Garlic and onions, consumed daily, help remove heavy metals from the body and have cardioprotective properties. They lower triglycerides and cholesterol in the blood. This is due to the unique compounds in the composition containing sulfur, which have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. On the other hand, vegetables improve blood circulation and stimulate the elimination of excess fluids in the body.

 

Olive leaves help effectively lower blood pressure and treat hypertension. They contain an active ingredient called oleuropein, have hypoglycaemic and diuretic effects.

 

Horsetail and its decoction strengthen the walls of the arteries. They contain flavonoids and potassium salts that help control blood pressure. The herb is known and used against many other diseases due to its valuable healing properties.

 

White hawthorn is one of the most famous hypotensive plants, acting not only in hypertension but also in arrhythmias, headaches, irritations. Hawthorn decoction has a calming effect on the heart, lowers cholesterol and triglycerides, improves the nervous system and sleep quality.

 

It is good to eat herbs and foods that control blood pressure, especially when it is high. In addition, it is essential to lead a healthy lifestyle, including a varied and nutrient-rich, low-fat diet. Alcohol is prohibited because it directly affects blood pressure, increasing weight. This puts a strain on the blood vessels, hence the heart. Eat more seasonal fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins and minerals, exercise and do not overload.
