Green Tea Also Has A Good Effect On The Brain

Green tea can also help treat memory loss due to mental disorders, scientists say.

Green tea is always associated with the most useful hot drink. Along with all the benefits it brings, a new study finds that it can also have a beneficial effect on the brain . According to scientists, green tea improves several types of cognitive functions, in particular working memory .

New findings suggest that green tea can be used as a remedy for dementia and other mental disorders.

The study is the work of researchers from the University of Basel, Switzerland. Researchers have seen significant improvements in working memory tasks in people who consume green tea .

The findings suggest that green tea may also help treat memory loss due to mental disorders or "participate" in the recovery process after such disorders.

Previous research in the field shows a number of health benefits of the drink. However, the neural mechanisms behind the effect were unknown to scientists.

A group of volunteers was served a drink containing green tea extract , and then given tasks to test their working memory's ability to solve tasks.

By monitoring brain activity with magnetic resonance imaging, scientists can see an increase in the connections between the parietal and anterior cortex of the brain .

The data from the study are published in the journal Psychopharmacology .
