How long to cook chicken in a pan

Boiled chicken is a nutritious and tasty product. It is perfectly absorbed by the body, dietary and healthy. Chicken contains a large percentage of proteins and a small percentage of fats, which is very much appreciated in sports nutrition, as well as in weight loss diets.

We can serve boiled chicken as a ready meal, and also use it to prepare other dishes, such as appetizers or salads. Recipes often say "boil the chicken until tender." It is not easy for a beginner in cooking to decide on a specific cooking time for chicken, because it will depend on many factors.

You should consider whether the meat was frozen or a fresh product is used, what is the age of the chicken, what is the weight of the chicken. The most reliable way to determine readiness is as follows: if a fork or knife easily enters the chicken carcass and light juice is released when pierced, then the chicken is ready.

Step 1

For work, we need fresh chicken 1.5 kg, water, salt, carrots, onions, celery root.

Step 2

Rinse the carcass well, remove the remnants of feathers.

Step 3

Place the chicken carcass in a saucepan and cover with water. The water should cover the chicken by 0.5-1 cm. Bring the water to a boil and drain.

Step 4

Pour clean water, add peeled and coarsely chopped carrots, celery root, whole onions, salt. Optionally, you can add bay leaves and peppercorns. Bring to a boil and cook covered over low heat until tender (1.3-3 hours depending on the chicken).

Step 5

Check the readiness of the chicken by piercing the carcass with a knife or fork. The meat should be easily pierced, and clear juice should stand out from the carcass. Remove the pan from the heat, and leave the carcass in the broth until it cools completely (so it will be juicier).

Step 6

The chicken is ready to go.
