Peel an onion and cut it into very thin circles (about 5 millimeters thick). Put them in a deep bowl, add plenty of salt and pour water. Stir and leave the washers in the saline solution for an hour.
Then drain the liquid (you can use a colander for this purpose), dry the onion with paper or cloth.
Sift some flour into a plate and add a few pinches of powdered sugar and ground black pepper.
Roll the onion rings in the dry mixture, shaking each one so that the excess can be removed.
Fry on both sides in very hot oil.
