Learn how to cook "What is the difference between sweet, hot and smoked paprika". Delicious recipe.
Usually when there is red pepper in the recipe , we use the one at hand, without complying with what is written. But the difference in pepper is noticeable and unless you definitely like one of the flavors, it is advisable to use the right spice to get the best out of the dish.
Here is the difference between sweet, hot and smoked paprika and where to use each type.
Sweet red pepper
The most common and most popular type of pepper. It is made from sweet red peppers. This spice gives a very dense color to any dish. You can sprinkle on eggs or potato salad, and also gives a good flavor to the meat. If the recipe does not indicate the type of paprika, it is best to use the sweet.
Hot red pepper
Hot red pepper is considered better than the others. Made from extra spicy red peppers, it is mainly used in hot dishes. In Hungarian cuisine, the spice is used as the main flavor, instead of just adding color. It is most often found in recipes for goulash, stews made from red meat, onions, potatoes and vegetables.
Smoked pepper
Smoked red pepper is made from peppers that are smoked and dried over oak fire. This process gives the red spice a rich smoky aroma. You will find it both in sweeter varieties and in a spicy version. The spice comes from Spain, where you can try the real "pimention", as the smoked pepper is called in your homeland. Suitable for casserole, potato dishes and vegetable soups.
