The researchers studied some of the most advertised and consumed products produced by several different companies and concluded that in most cases, advertised as fruit drinks actually have almost no natural ingredients, but instead are full of colors, flavors, aromas and huge amounts of sugar.
The real content of tea, known for its beneficial antioxidant properties, is actually about 10-15% of the total content of the drink, and the amount of antioxidants themselves - less than 1%. The high content of sugar and synthetic sweeteners have an unexpected harmful effect on the body in the daily use of the advertised as useful drinks, experts say.
During the research, the composition of cold green tea with lemon and berries, produced by several different companies, was analyzed. It turned out that only 15% of the drink was tea, and the fruity taste was due solely to flavors.
At the same time, the sugar content in a pack of 2 liters of this cold drink was equal to 47 lumps of sugar.
Experts from the consumer protection organization recommend that you do not overdo it with ready-made iced teas, and even better if you make your own tea and add dried fruits, herbs and honey instead of sugar.
