Ketchup is one of the most common sauces in the world. The classic product consists of water, tomatoes and spices. Tomato, in the form of puree or paste, is the basis of natural and quality ketchup. Today, there are many types of the product: with onions, garlic, peppers, carrots, mushrooms, olives, pickles, herbs; sweet and spicy.

Natural ketchup , prepared according to established rules and the required amount of red tomatoes and red peppers, contains the substance lycopene, which has a pronounced effect against edema, reduces the likelihood of cardiovascular disease.

Interestingly, when heated, the amount of lycopene in tomatoes does not decrease, which happens with most vitamins, but on the contrary - increases.

The basis of ketchup are  tomatoes, rich in vitamins P, PP, K, all B vitamins, ascorbic acid (which is almost as much as in citrus). Salts of potassium, calcium, magnesium are no less important for the body, are also present in the composition of tomatoes and are not destroyed during primary heat treatment.

The natural product also contains serotonin (happiness hormone), so ketchup is also an antidepressant.
