The first of a series of open discussions on "Talking about water" took place. The initiator and organizer of the event is the Bulgarian National Water Council Foundation.
Leading specialists in the field of dietetics, healthy eating, dermatology, pediatrics are speakers at the discussion. Psychologists, fitness instructors, lecturers in Tibetan medicine and yoga, as well as parents also expressed their views on water and its impact on all aspects of modern life.
The discussion began with a presentation on the issue of healthy eating, water and obesity. Lecturer on the topic "We are fat because we do not drink enough water" was Prof. Donka Baykova. She noted that the amount of water in each person's body is individual and that even with a sedentary lifestyle, adults losean average of 2.5 liters of fluid each day - 1.5 liters of urine and 500 ml of sweat.
To restore these losses, Prof. Baykova recommends taking at least 30 ml of water per kg of body weight from all with a normal physique and an additional 1 cup of water for every 10 kg of extra weight . Mandatory at high temperatures - at least one more glass above the daily intake.
Low-mineralized waters are suitable for weight loss , according to Assoc. Prof. Baykova. According to her, in this case, those with a high sodium content should be avoided so as not to increase the concentration of salt in the body.
Drinks do not replace water- especially beer, coffee and natural juices - they are a kind of liquid food. If taken due to fluid requirements, they should be diluted.
According to Prof. Baykova, the feeling of hunger and thirst is often confused, so it is recommended to drink a glass of water before reaching for food. Only if the feeling of hunger remains after that, you should resort to eating.
It is recommended to drink at least 1 glass of water 30 minutes before meals, one glass during and one after meals to speed up metabolic processes.
