Limiting Fructose Reduces Weight

One way to lose weight is to limit your intake of fructose - a type of simple carbohydrate, a source of fat synthesis.

One way to lose weight is to limit your intake of fructose - a type of simple carbohydrate, a source of fat synthesis.

According to Elizabeth Parks, a professor of nutrition and dietetics at the University of Tennessee, not only calories should be counted in diets, but also the type of carbohydrates consumed. She and her team observed the negative effects of fructose on body weight. It, glucose and sucrose are metabolized differently. However, all three are a source of triglyceride formation. According to her, once their synthesis of fructose, it is difficult to stop.

Complex biochemical processes take place in the liver, one of which is glucose metabolism. It determines whether it will be burned for energy needs, whether it will become a source of glycogen or triglycerides. However, fructose, Parks explains, bypasses this "metabolic junction." Its control is not so strict and is easily included in biochemical pathways that are undesirable for our figure.

Fructose is high in fruits and also as an added ingredient in some foods.
