Mustard Oil

In this article, learn more about Mustard Oil. Mustard oil - useful properties and contraindications.

Mustard oil is a valuable plant product, which is characterized by a high content of biologically active substances needed daily by humans: vitamins E, A, D, B3, B6, B4, K, P, polyunsaturated fatty acids (vitamin F), phytosterols, chlorophyll, phytoncides, glycosides, etc.). The composition of the oil includes significant amounts of linoleic acid (belongs to the group of Omega-6) and linolenic acid, similar in effect to the body with polyunsaturated Omega-3 acids contained in flaxseed and fish oils. Together, the two essential fatty acids contribute to:

  • better functioning of the cardiovascular system (prevent the development of atherosclerosis, preventing the accumulation of cholesterol plaques on the walls of blood vessels, reduce blood viscosity and increase the elasticity of blood vessels);
  • normalize fat metabolism, support digestive functions;
  • maintain a normal hormonal balance, improve the activity of the reproductive, nervous and endocrine systems;
  • strengthen immunity;
  • neutralize the harmful effects of toxins, slags, radionuclides, salts of heavy metals on the human body.

Mustard oil also contains vitamin A - an antioxidant that greatly helps strengthen the immune system and the full development of the body; has a beneficial effect on the visual organs, improves the functions of the epithelium of the skin and mucous membranes.

Of the fat-soluble vitamins, vitamin E occupies an important place in the composition of the product (in this respect, mustard seed oil is several times superior to sunflower oil). It has immune-boosting, anti-inflammatory, wound healing and rejuvenating properties. Helps lower blood cholesterol, normalizes clotting (thus prevents the formation of blood clots), helps strengthen the walls of blood vessels and capillaries, protects the heart from the consequences associated with a lack of magnesium and oxygen. Vitamin E plays a key role in the functioning of the reproductive system and is an important element for reproductive processes.

Mustard oil is also an excellent source of vitamin D (1.5 times more than in sunflower oil), which helps maintain normal levels of phosphorus and calcium in the blood. These two substances are necessary for the full growth and strengthening of bone tissue. It is this vitamin that is the best prophylaxis against the development of rickets and osteoporosis. In addition, it enhances immunity, improves thyroid function, prevents the occurrence of cardiovascular and skin diseases, is often used for prophylaxis and complex therapy in multiple sclerosis, in a number of cancers (leukemia, ovarian cancer, of the breast, of the prostate, of the brain).

Vitamin B6 in the composition of the product plays an important role in various metabolic processes (fat, carbohydrate, protein, water-salt), regulates cholesterol and blood sugar levels, participates in the formation of hemoglobin, improves the functioning of the central and peripheral nervous systems, a natural antioxidant f. B6 is often called the "female" vitamin because it maintains normal hormonal balance and has a beneficial effect on the female reproductive system.

Vitamin B3 - is needed for energy metabolism. It regulates the functions of the brain and nervous system, is necessary for the proper functioning of the digestive organs, is important for the synthesis of sex hormones.

Vitamin B4 - has a beneficial effect on the state of the nervous system, improves mental abilities, participates in the synthesis of phospholipids (substances that prevent fatty infiltration of the liver).

Vitamin K - helps prevent bleeding associated with poor blood clotting; its role is important for the absorption of calcium from bone tissue, as well as for the proper functioning of the kidneys.

Biologically active substances (phytosterols - plant hormones) are not few in mustard oil. They are characterized by bactericidal and antitumor properties, help lower the level of "harmful" cholesterol in the blood, improve the condition of the skin. In medicine, these substances are often used in the complex treatment of prostate diseases, cancer, endocrine and cardiovascular diseases.

The large amounts of phytoncides, chlorophyll, isothiocyanates, synegrin and essential oil, which are contained in the composition of mustard seed oil , have powerful bactericidal and antitumor properties. In combination, these substances best contribute to improving the functions of the cardiovascular, digestive, endocrine and respiratory systems of man.

The product is useful to take regularly with food for prophylaxis against and in the complex treatment of gallstone disease, fatty liver disease, cholecystitis, hepatitis, cirrhosis. In folk medicine, the oil is used as an anthelmintic. Helps with hypertension, atherosclerosis, anemia, used to combat the effects of trauma, muscle and joint diseases.

In folk medicine, mustard oil is known as an effective remedy for seborrhea, acne, atopic dermatitis, lichens, allergic and pustular skin lesions, herpes, psoriasis, eczema, mycoses. The product is successfully used in cosmetics as a means of care for the skin of the face and body, to strengthen the hair.
