Obesity - A New Perspective

One of the causes of insulin resistance, a precursor to type 2 diabetes, is thought to be overweight.

One of the causes of insulin resistance, a precursor to type 2 diabetes, is thought to be overweight.
Studies in mice have shown that it is not the degree of obesity, but the presence of fatty infiltration in a number of internal organs that is an important factor in its occurrence. These data were obtained by Philip Scherer and colleagues from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York.
Another aspect of the study was the presence of letin in mice. Its fox is associated with the onset of diabetes, and the introduction of adiponectin genes in mice prevents it.
The authors conclude that in overweight people, low adinopectin levels are associated with the accumulation of fat in areas other than subcutaneous adipose tissue.
