Diarrhea is a condition often caused by bacteria or an upset stomach . As it damages the digestive system , it also affects the absorption of nutrients. Excessive fluid and salt loss has been reported in people with diarrhea . The condition can lead to malnutrition and dehydration. 
 
Diarrhea is a very common symptom due to an infection from contaminated water or food. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor what is consumed. Which foods are suitable for people suffering from diarrhea?
 
Foods low in salt and sugar but rich in water should be consumed. Foods that can irritate the stomach, such as protein- rich foods and spicy foods, should be avoided. 
 
The diet should consist of easily digestible foods such as banana , rice, apple and toast. Bananas are good for people suffering from diarrhea because they are high in potassium and help restore water and electrolyte balance in the body. 
 
 
 
Fruits are the richest source of water, they keep the body hydrated. Watermelon, grapes , tomatoes are foods that are low in calories and high in water. 
 
A large amount of fluids should also be consumed. They not only hydrate the body, but also help restore vital electrolytes. 
 
It is not recommended that people with diarrhea consume gas-rich foods or foods rich in fiber such as green leafy vegetables.
