Wheatgrass is a source of potassium, dietary fiber, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol), vitamin K, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, pantothenic acid, iron, zinc, copper, manganese, and selenium.

Although wheatgrass is considered reasonably safe, side effects include nausea, headaches, hives, and constipation. Since it's grown in the soil or water and eaten raw, it can easily be contaminated with bacteria or mold. Pregnant and nursing women are strongly advised to avoid any form of it.

 

The potency of wheatgrass is very strong, so we only need to drink a very small quantity of it. The recommended daily intake for maintaining optimum health is approximately 30 mls (1 fl. oz).
