Maintaining good dental health is essential for the overall well-being of the body. Healthy teeth require a sufficient amount of minerals and vitamins , which can be obtained through the following foods.
Dairy products are a rich source of calcium, which is an important mineral for teeth. Cheese is a dairy product that effectively suppresses plaque buildup by reducing acid levels in the mouth. Some hard cheeses even remove bacteria from the mouth. Therefore, hard cheese is considered more useful than soft.
Celery is a vegetable that maintains good oral hygiene. Consumption of raw celery is preferable to processed celery, as the crunchy fibrous stem of vegetables can help produce more saliva and neutralize bacteria that cause bad breath and dental problems.
Raisins contain compounds such as oleanolic acid, which effectively fights dental caries by preventing the reproduction and spread of bacteria in the mouth. These sweet dried fruits keep the gums healthy by preventing the formation of caries and other dental diseases.
Blueberries contain anthocyanins, which remove bacteria from the mouth. They have anti-inflammatory properties that reduce the spread of periodontitis. Cranberries produce specific enzymes that prevent the production of acids in the oral cavity and protect against dental disease.
Carrots are crunchy vegetables that contain nutrients that help increase saliva production . Thus, these orange vegetables help the food to be digested faster, in addition to preventing the appearance of diseases and cavities on the teeth .
Despite the sharp and strong aroma of onions, it contains compounds that are extremely useful for teeth. Onions have antibacterial properties, and the sulfur content in them keeps teeth healthy and protects them from various diseases.
Other foods that are very good for teeth are green tea, milk, kiwi, green leafy vegetables, nuts, garlic and ginger .
