Cystitis is an inflammation of the bladder, the treatment of which must be accompanied by changes in the menu.

The diet for cystitis is oriented to the work of the kidneys, it also depends on the form of the disease.

Nutrition should be complete. The most important thing is to take a sufficient amount of protein, vitamins and minerals, that of carbohydrates and fats - to reduce.

The main rule of the diet for cystitis is to eat caloric products in the first half of the day, and in the second - those with fewer calories.

Useful foods for cystitis

In case of chronic cystitis, the following must be present in the menu:
  • cottage cheese;
  • cheese;
  • whole grain bread;
  • vegetables and soups thereof;
  • raw fruits;
  • buckwheat porridge;
  • boiled meat;
  • juices.

In the period of exacerbation of the disease you must adhere to strict rules, some of which prohibit the intake of salty and sweet products.

Choose foods that do not contain salt and concentrated protein:
  • fresh vegetables;
  • wholemeal porridges;
  • freshly squeezed vegetable juices;
  • milk;
  • meat (in any form), but not salted and without sauces;
  • vegetables (except canned);
  • bread (preferably fresh white - wheat or rice);
  • fruits - pears, blueberries, soft and sweet apples.

Drinks for cystitis

Particular attention is paid to beverages. To reduce burning in the urethra, during the exacerbation of the disease, it is very useful to drink freshly squeezed juice of carrots or apples and beets (300 ml twice a day).

Melon juice has no less beneficial effect. It is generally recommended to drink as much fluid as possible (not less than 2 liters per day).

The most useful drink that is thought to prevent re-exacerbation of cystitis is cranberry juice. It contains substances (anthocyanidins) that interfere with the growth of harmful bacteria in the urine and even prevent their penetration into the urethra.

What irritates cystitis?

Limitations in cystitis
  • To reduce consumption: potatoes, pasta, sweet foods. The use of citrus juices, freshly squeezed orange juice, grapes, peaches, plums, apples, apple juice (pure), melon, avocado, bananas, mayonnaise, raisins, nuts, chocolate is not recommended.
  • Absolutely forbidden are: alcohol (including beer), spicy and spicy foods, canned food, strong tea, coffee, soy sauce, smoked products. They all irritate the walls of the bladder.

Some products may only irritate your bladder. You will find out who they are over time, gaining experience and observing the effect of food on yourself.

Write down what you consume and how you feel after taking a drink or food. In this way you will determine which product is unbearable for you and you will exclude it from your menu. So you can prepare an individual diet, which can be consulted with a doctor.
