Dark Chocolate Supports The Heart

The risk of heart failure in women who consume chocolate once to three times a month is 26% lower.

The risk of heart failure in women who consume chocolate once to three times a month is 26% lower, Norwegian medics found based on a large study.

Data from 31,823 Swedes collected over 9 years aged between 48 and 83 years were analyzed. The beneficial effect on the heart is found in those who consume chocolate with a high content of cocoa.

However, for those who are tempted daily with the brown block, the same benefit is not reported. This, according to experts, is due to the high caloric content, which has its negatives for health and in its daily consumption there is a danger of weight gain. It is known that extra pounds put a strain on the heart.

Dark chocolate is rich in cocoa. Its health effect is due to the flavonoids it contains, which have the ability to lower blood pressure and a number of other useful properties according to other medical studies.

However, the Norwegian study is the first to show a long-term beneficial effect on health and heart with regular and measured consumption of dark chocolate.
