Given its field of action, the additive E 535 belongs to the group of emulsifiers. It has a yellow powdery consistency. It is difficult to dissolve in water, insoluble in ether and ethyl alcohol.

Use

In some countries, E 535 is not approved for use as a dietary supplement. It can be used in the preparation of salt and its substitutes, helps prevent the formation of lumps and sticking of products. E 535 is also used in demetallization of wines (purification of wine from cations of heavy metals, which adversely affect the taste of the drink); in the creation of blue paint (Berlin blue), in photography it is used for whitening and toning.

Impact on humans

Previously, the use of 25 mg / kg body weight of sodium ferrocyanide was allowed, but in many countries it is not allowed and the exact effect on the body has not been determined.
