Use

In the food industry, E 624 is used very little, and lately it is not even found in food. In some countries, the substance is banned for use in this area due to possible adverse health effects.

Impact on humans

Exceeding the recommended dose of ammonium glutamate can cause headaches, cause weakness and lethargy in humans. In some cases, rapid heartbeat is observed. E 624 also causes the development of the so-called "Chinese restaurant syndrome", which manifests itself in the appearance of tingling in the neck, back, neck, nausea, upset stomach. The maximum permissible amount of the supplement is not more than 120 mg per 1 kg of body weight.
