Foods That Are Considered Vegetarian, But Are Not

Many food producers do not mention the full composition of the products, but animal products are used in them ...

The vegetarian diet seems easy, following a simple rule - no meat, eggs and products of animal origin .

While it's not hard to avoid cheeseburgers, steaks, or scrambled eggs, store shelves are full of processed foods that at first glance are suitable for vegetarians , but aren't.

In addition, misleading labels or the lack of a list of all ingredients in the product makes vegetarians more susceptible to unknowingly violating their diet.

You will probably be surprised to learn that some fruits are also on the list ...

1. Bananas

Bananas are certainly a vegetarian food at first glance. However, it turns out that some sprays used to extend the shelf life of the fruit contain parts of animal products . Chitosan, for example, is extracted from the shells of crabs and shrimps and is used to prevent the rotting of bananas and the characteristic browning during the ripening process.

Unfortunately, this is the most widely used product to extend the shelf life of fruits and vegetables .

2. Beer

Beer - so loved by carnivores and vegetarians , but really not always suitable for the latter.
Some breweries use fish enhancing agents in the production of their beers.

The fish agent is used to filter yeast in some brands of beer, especially British. The problem is that not all manufacturers mention this on the labels.

3. Chips

Labels and packaging of chips do not always distinguish between animal and plant-based enzymes. Some companies use pork enzymes to produce some of the flavors, such as cheese. Barbecue-flavored chips contain chicken fat . Strange right?
