Required products :

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 150 grams of sugar
  • 125 grams of melted butter
  • 115 grams of flour
  • 1 3/4 tea cups fresh milk
  • 1/4 tea cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • peel of 1 lemon, finely grated
  • powdered sugar for sprinkling

For garnish :

  • mint leaves
  • lemon peel

Method of preparation :

 

  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and grease a square baking dish measuring approximately 20 centimeters.
  • Carefully separate the egg whites from the yolks and beat the egg whites in the snow.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the egg yolks with the sugar until smooth.
  • Add the vanilla extract and butter and turn on the mixer for 1-2 minutes.
  • Add the flour and mix with a wooden spoon or spatula until homogeneous.
  • Sprinkle with freshly squeezed lemon juice and grated zest and slowly start adding the milk, stirring constantly.
  • Finally, add the egg whites and stir again.
  • Pour the mixture into the form and bake for about 45-60 minutes until golden. Baking time may vary depending on the oven.
  • Allow the cake to cool before cutting.
  • Sprinkle with powdered sugar, garnish and serve.
