Required products :

  • 500 grams of potatoes
  • 120 grams of bread of your choice, cut into cubes
  • 200 milliliters of fresh milk
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 30 grams of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 100 grams of ham, cut into thin slices
  • 100 grams of grated yellow cheese

For sprinkling :

  • breadcrumbs
  • melted butter

Method of preparation :

  • Preheat the oven to 200 degrees and cover with baking paper 20 cm round pan or form.
  • Boil the potatoes, peel them and mash with a fork in a large bowl.
  • Add the bread and milk, stir and let the mixture stand for 30 minutes.
  • Add the egg, grated parmesan and breadcrumbs. Stir and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  • Pour 1/2 of the mixture into the prepared form and flatten with the back of a spoon.
  • Spread the ham and grated yellow cheese and cover them with the remaining mixture.
  • Sprinkle with melted butter and breadcrumbs and bake for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Serve the potato casserole warm and enjoy its rich taste and aroma.
