In this article, learn more about Lunar Diets - Are They Healthy?. How does the moon affect metabolism?.
Since ancient times, our ancestors observed and attributed various properties to the moon. With its phases they took into account the sowing and harvesting. Nowadays, the lunar position and phases are interpreted in different directions. In modern astrology, the moon is one of the most important celestial bodies and it has to do with various aspects of our lives.
From a scientific point of view, it has been proven that the Moon influences the tides and that, when passing from one phase to another, it causes subtle changes in the Earth's electromagnetic field. These changes explain the influence of the Moon on the metabolism of all living things on our planet.
In this line of thought, lunar diets have been developed in accordance with the phases of the moon. For most people, these diets work, which is why they are especially popular today.
There is no unanimous scientific answer to the question why in certain periods of the lunar cycle it is appropriate to follow a diet. But, nevertheless, the reliability of the connection of metabolism with the lunar movement is based on thousands of observations, which cannot be ignored and gives some reason in the application of these diets.
In order to follow a lunar diet, it is necessary to know the phases through which the Moon passes every approximately 28 days. A full orbit of the Moon around the Earth takes 27 days, 7 hours, 34 minutes and 12 seconds. This period is divided into 4 equal parts, called the first, second, third and fourth quarters, respectively . The full moon separates the second and third quarters, and the new moon marks the end of the fourth quarter and the beginning of a new lunar cycle.
Every approximately 28 days, the Moon begins a new cycle and again goes through the same 4 phases. For the month of February, 2015, the phases of the Moon and their duration are as follows:
1) The moon enters the month in its second phase, before the full moon.
2) Full moon on February 3, occurring at 23 hours and 10 minutes. The third quarter begins.
3) February 12 at 3 hours and 51 minutes is the end of the third and beginning of the fourth quarter.
4) On February 18 at 23 hours and 48 minutes a new moon occurs, marking the beginning of a new cycle.
5) February 25 at 17 hours and 15 minutes is the end of the first and beginning of the second quarter of the new lunar cycle. The second quarter lasts until March 5.
Various lunar diets are common. All of them, however, take into account the specific phases of the moon for the respective month. Information about these phases is available on the Internet. The most commonly used diets are to reduce weight.
Most lunar diets consume mostly fluids, fruits and vegetables for 24 hours or days. Therefore, diets of this type are not recommended for patients with diabetes, so as not to disrupt the subtle mechanisms of blood sugar maintenance in them.
It is accepted that the principle of influence of the Moon on the water in nature is applicable to the water in the human body. During the full moon there is an ebb in the water basins. Similarly, in the human body, more water from the intercellular space enters the intracellular space.
Conversely, during the new moon, the tide in inanimate nature is accompanied by more intense water traffic in the direction from the cells to the intercellular fluid in living organisms. Due to this fact, it is believed that around the new moon the body is cleared of toxins accumulated in cells and extracellular fluid. Intake of fluids only during this period stimulates the excretory function of the kidneys.
In addition, during the new moon, the biochemical process of lipolysis is stimulated , which is expressed in the breakdown of fats and their increased utilization.
Therefore, the lunar influence on the human body is realized through interference in water-salt regulation, detoxification and the process of fat breakdown. Although not scientifically proven, the Moon is thought to affect people's sleep and emotional state . A probable reason for this impact is the discrete change in the Earth's magnetic field as the Moon passes through the various phases. It is no coincidence that in classical astrology the Moon is responsible for human emotions and instincts.
Lunar diets are very different. They are observed during the periods of transition between the 4 phases of the Moon (most often immediately after the full moon and new moon). The duration of the diets is from 24 hours to 6 days . Mostly liquids such as mineral water, teas, fruit juices and broths are taken.
It is recommended that vegetables be stewed or steamed to keep their natural ingredients unchanged. The menu does not include meat, spicy foods, alcohol and coffee.
The 24-hour lunar diet is followed for one day, starting from the moment the Moon enters a new phase. These moments, as it turned out, are 4 for each 28-day cycle. Only fluids are taken during this diet.
Other diets are followed instead of 4 times a month, once a month, but for more days. This is the three-day diet . During this period, fluids and fruits are consumed. The three-day diet is followed for 3 days, starting from the moment of full moon or new moon.
Lunar diets are used to reduce or maintain weight . Another reason for their use is balancing, detoxifying and toning the body. The results are not instantaneous.
