Mustard has been known to man not since yesterday. Apart from its taste, it is also known as a medicine used in both folk and official medicine and has a number of useful properties.
Mustard seeds, from which mustard is prepared, contain over 25% protein; up to 35% fat (mainly unsaturated fatty acids); essential oil; micro- and macroelements: potassium, zinc, magnesium, iron, calcium, sodium. The spices contain enzymes, glycosides, dietary fiber.
The product is also characterized by a large amount of vitamins B, E D, A, and the latter is stored in it for over half a year. The fatty composition is represented by erucic, linoleic, oleic, linoleic acids. The glycosides sinigrin and sinalbin, which are present in mustard, help treat coughs and bronchitis.
The product increases appetite, breaks down fats, improves the digestion of protein foods, activates metabolism, improves salivation. It has antimicrobial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory effects. Most microbes in the human stomach are "afraid" of mustard . It also has antioxidant, laxative and protective properties. It is good to consume during colds, helps with coughs and laryngitis, is used as a warming agent to increase blood circulation.
From the product are prepared various ointments that are used in the treatment of bronchitis, rheumatism, pneumonia, neuralgia, radiculitis, gout, neuritis, for the treatment of skin diseases: psoriasis and neurodelmatitis, as an aphrodisiac: to increase sexual desire; for men it is useful for impotence, and for women - for infertility.
The use of mustard has a good effect on the nervous system, stimulates cerebral circulation, improves perception and memory.
Mustard powder is also used to wash oily scalp and to strengthen hair.
Mustard is not suitable for people suffering from gastrointestinal ulcers, because it has a strong burning effect and can burn the lining of the digestive system.
