An article on drug testing at the Japanese University of Medical Sciences, Suzuka, was published in the Royal Society of Chemistry journal Metallomics. Doctors observed a drop in blood sugar when the drug was taken orally in a study in mice. This effect has been observed in previous studies with intravenous administration.

Today, type 1 diabetes is treated with daily administration of insulin, and type 2 - a proper diet and oral antidiabetic drugs, insulin in some cases. However, none of them allow perfect control of blood sugar.
