Botulism

It is recommended to follow a healing diet N10, which excludes fatty meats and freshly baked breads.

Botulism is a severe disease with a toxicoinfectious nature. It is a lesion of the nervous system, bulbar and ophthalmological disorders are observed.

If the disease is severe, the patient should be fed with a tube or parenteral nutrition is prescribed. Food mixtures should contain a large amount of protein (per 1 kg of body weight - 1.5 grams).

The patient needs to drink a lot of water, because in botulism a large amount of fluid is lost.

Useful foods for botulism

In the normal course of the disease, it is recommended to eat according to a curative diet № 10, which includes the following foods and dishes:

  • of animal origin - meatballs and meatballs prepared from lean meats and fish, 1 egg per day, cottage cheese, dairy products, butter;
  • of plant origin - more fruits and vegetables (but only with coarse fiber); various jellies, mousses and jams thereof;
  • porridge;
  • vegetarian soups;
  • drinks - compotes, juices, green tea, decoctions of rose hips, hawthorn, blueberries;

All dishes must be steamed or cooked, maybe stewed, but only after they have been cooked;

Harmful food products in botulism:

  • home-made canned meat and fish;
  • dried and smoked meats and fish;
  • confectionery containing creams.

All these products are in most cases sources of the bacterium that causes botulism, if the technology of cooking and storing them is not followed. They are especially dangerous in the summer, it is necessary to store at a temperature not exceeding +10 degrees.

When adhering to a curative diet №10 from the menu should be excluded:

  • fatty broths prepared from mushrooms, meat, fish and legumes;
  • freshly baked bread, multilayered, shortbread, butter dough, pancakes.
