How To Beat A Hangover?

In this article, learn more about How To Beat A Hangover?. What really helps and what is a myth ....

Hangover is a problem that almost every adult has faced, especially in the summer during the annual leave, when we decide to relax more ... In fact, it is a condition that occurs after alcohol abuse and includes the following symptoms: headache, nausea , dizziness, fatigue, heartburn.

1. How can a hangover be minimized?

Hydration. In order to reduce the harmful effects of alcohol on the body, it is necessary to be well hydrated. Ethanol has a dehydrating effect and therefore it is imperative to compensate for the created deficit of water in the body. This is best done by drinking water during alcohol consumption, before bed and in the morning. Water should not be taken in large quantities at once, but often in small portions.
Carbonated drinks and those that contain glucose enhance the absorption of alcohol, respectively its harmful effects. For this reason, this type of drink should be avoided if possible.

Quality, type of alcohol and other factors. It is clear to everyone that quality alcohol causes a more tolerable hangover or no hangover in the morning. The reason is that branded alcohol does not contain contaminants and other impurities (for example, methanol), unlike some home-made drinks.
Different types of alcohol should not be mixed. The use of alcohol on an empty stomach is not recommended. Smoking also aggravates the symptoms of a hangover.

2. The following means may be used to combat hangovers:

Aspirin with vitamin C. Acetylsalicylic acid has an analgesic effect, and vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant. It is desirable that aspirin be in a soluble version, because it, like alcohol, irritates the stomach, and in this form this effect is minimized. It is recommended to take one tablet (330 - 500 mg) at bedtime.

Vitamin B complex. It is necessary for the normal metabolic processes in the body. Take 1-2 tablets at bedtime and in the morning.

Zinc is a trace element with many important functions in the human body. Alcohol removes zinc from the liver and is excreted in the urine. Therefore, the deficit should be compensated by taking - 5 micrograms in the morning.

Glucose. Ethanol, in general, lowers blood sugar levels. Therefore, one would feel better if he ate one or two spoons of honey in the morning. The good effect of this measure has been proven by British researchers. In addition to invert sugar (a mixture of equal amounts of glucose and fructose), honey contains trace elements and bioflavonoids that help the body cope with the toxic metabolite of ethanol - acetaldehyde.

Antacids. Alcohol increases gastric secretion and irritates the lining of the stomach. In more severe cases, gastritis can occur. To save ourselves these troubles, before or during a treat with alcohol we can resort to taking an antacid, ie soda bicarbonate dissolved in water.

Probiotics. In case of bloating, gas or diarrhea, probiotics can be used, which includes yogurt.

Lemon juice, ginger or sodium citrate are classic remedies that are used to combat one of the most unpleasant symptoms of a hangover - nausea.

Cabbage. Cabbage juice. This king is often used and well known to most Bulgarians. Cabbage juice contains substances that support the metabolism of ethanol to harmless products - carbon dioxide and water.

Exercise, massage. They aim to increase blood circulation in tissues and organs, which ensures their supply of oxygen and nutrients, as well as the removal of toxic substances from them. We should not underestimate the need for fresh air.

These are most of the remedies that can help us feel better after a hard night. There are measures against hangovers, which are not so successful and instead of improving, they worsen the condition.

3. What makes a hangover worse?

Coffee and caffeinated beverages. Coffee is not recommended because it has a diuretic effect, that is, dehydrates the body further. In addition, coffee is very irritating to the stomach, like alcohol.

Fruit juices (fresh fruit) with a high content of vitamins or isotonic drinks can be taken instead of coffee in the morning.
