Derek Hoffman of the University of Alabama at Birmingham has proven in a study with rodents that restricting food ensures longevity, adding that he already knows the key molecule responsible for it. According to him, everything is due to low levels of insulin - a hormone that regulates blood sugar.

For the study, Hoffman subjected mice to various diets and exercise. However, he is not sure if this also applies to people. The benefits of sports for now are undeniable.
